What is Contemporary Glamour Photography?
I get this question question all the time: “What is Contemporary Glamour photoshoot” ? It is the best experience you can receive in my studio :)! But let me get into more details. The idea about Contemporary Glamour sessions was born in my head by admiring the work of Annie Leibovitz and her work for Vanity Fair Magazine.
What I love about those portraits is the story they tell, the old Hollywood glamour and their painterly look. We all gasp when we see a beautiful Magazine cover and think “Well, if only I could do that for a day, experience and look like those women…”. And then I though: “What a minute! This is possible and I want to give this experience to everyday women. I wanna make them look and feel like the most beautiful woman in the room. I wanna help them reconnect with their beautiful inner light and for those who never thought they could look gorgeous - I wanna take them on a journey of self-discovery and self-love…”.
I am a firm believer that everybody caries something special and has a story to tell. And I want to tell your story through my images. The beauty isn’t only on the outside. It is often the light that shines through the person’s eyes. I see beauty everywhere around me and I am sure I can photograph beautifully each and every person, standing in front of my camera. The only challenge I have is to gain your trust and make you feel safe to show me your true self.
Do you recognise yourself in any of the women above?
They all had something in common: they came insecure, thinking they are not photogenic , but really wanting to have beautiful portraits of themselves. And they all gasped “Wow…” with tears of unbelief and excitement at the same time. For me, this is the best feeling in the whole world. When I show someone’s real beauty, I change the way she feels about herself and this changes her entire life. This is my way of giving back and trying to make the world a better place :).
A Contemporary Glamour photoshoot with me and my team goes in three stages.
#1. The Consultation
It is the moment, where we get to meet each other in person and create your dream photoshoot. I have prepared for every client a Questionnaire, which helps me to get a better idea of her personality and ideas for the session. We sit and enjoy a cup of coffee while I ask questions like “How would you like to be photographed?”, “Who do you want to share this experience with?” and “What it means to you to do this photoshoot and why now?”. We go into every small detail from how you like your hair and makeup done to what wardrobe you want to wear, your favourite album to listen to and go-to drink ;). I give you as well a little Timeline brochure on “How to prepare for your Contemporary Glamour session” with useful tips and reminders like how to do your manicure and what underwear to bring. Hey, the details are important ;)!
#2. The Photoshoot
It is YOUR day, when you get to spend the whole morning (or afternoon) with me and my team, carefree, because we are there to take care of you. We start the session with a professional makeup & hair styling of your choice while you enjoy refreshments in the studio. You can do the session by your self or share it with someone special: your mum, sister, best friend, husband and kids if you wish. Then, I guide you through the poses. We take our time, so don’t stress! It feel more like a conversation with a close friend. We chat about life, adventures, dreams… we laugh and we cry and in the meantime I take the best photos you have ever seen of yourself. This is my intention and a promise to you.
#3. The Reveal Session
After the session, I go through the images and select the best ones (usually between 25 and 30 photos). I then retouch them and get them ready for the Reveal session, which takes place approximately 2 weeks after the photoshoot. This is the most exciting part where you get to see your beautiful portraits for the first time :)! You are free to select the images you love and want to purchase. They go home with you printed and matted, in a handcrafted, Italian leather Folio Box. During the Reveal, we go through ideas about Wall Art as well and different options on how you can display your portraits in your home.
